Dongguan Cup International Industrial Design Awards 2008

-- Leading Dongguan Innovative Design Industry Ahead of Its Time

‘Simple, Smart, and Surpassing’ themed Dongguan Cup International Industrial Design Awards 2008, kicked off on April 1, will see its final round competition on Oct. 17th, 2008.

An annual international event dated back to 2005, Dongguan Cup International Industrial Design Awards was originally designed to promote independent innovation and original design in Dongguan and the Pearl River Delta area.  In 2006, it took a further step toward an internationally-based design event, and in 2007, an endorsed event by the ICSID. With four years’ hosting experiences, this year’s Dongguan Awards will continue its commitment to showcase originality in industry, international standards, ethnic flavor, and Chinese style. 

Dongguan Cup Awards consists of open group and enterprise group. Open group includes free topic and given topic sections, calling for entry among university students, freelance designers, and designers from design agencies. There are three categories in given topic group and special category - anti-disaster and disaster relief products category - has been newly-introduced for the ‘May 12 Sichuan Earth Quake’.

Enterprise group, open to enterprises in Dongguan, covers various lines of business, e.g. electronic information, furniture, toy, machinery, and medical device.

The event will reach its climax during Oct. 15 to 19, which will be fully packed with activities: grand final competition, awarding ceremony, excellent works exhibition, design project networking meeting, and industrial design innovation submit forum.

This year’s excellent works exhibition features a joint exhibition of China Red Star Design Award, sponsored by Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and Beijing Municipal Industrial Design Center.
